365: February

February was a busy month.  Brian’s parents came for a visit early in the month and then we took our first road trip as a family to visit some dear friends (and Aunt Meg!) in Madison.  I was terrified of the 5 hour drive with the kiddos, but it went off surprisingly well.  Aside from seeing friends, the highlight for R was definitely sleeping in a tent.  He was out of his mind excited.  So excited he woke up the first morning at 4:30am.

R: (Poking Brian) “Papa, time to get up yet?”

B: “No bud, it’s still early.  It’s time to go back to sleep.”

R: “Why?” (Side note: this is his absolute new favorite word)

B: “Because the sun’s not up yet.”

R: “Oh.”

(pause)

R: “Time to get up now, Papa?”

B: “No bud, it’s time to sleep.”

R: “Papa, it’s hard waiting.”

B: “I know bud, I know.”

We also finally bit the bullet and confiscated N’s pacifier at night.  I don’t know why we didn’t do this sooner.  It was no fun getting up multiple times a night to put the %$# thing back in.  It’s finally nice to be getting sleep again.

I’ve been trying to be more intentional in documenting our daily moments.  Our afternoon dance parties.  Snack in the car (every. single. day.).  Reading magazines over breakfast.  The unfolding sibling dynamics.  Animal crackers at the grocery store.  Because I know they’ll change in the blink of an eye.  And I don’t want to forget.  Here are some February favorites.
