It shouldn’t surprise me anymore, yet it still catches me off guard every time. I fall in love with each family I photograph.
A day in the life session is not like every other photography experience. I’m in your home enjoying my time with you. I’m talking and learning about your lives and making jokes. I empathize when your little one crashes his bike and when your three year old throws herself on the floor in an epic meltdown. Over the course of the day we become friends and your children may even burst into tears at the end of the session because “that one Sylvie” has to go. Even with families I’ve known for awhile, I get to know you even better. It’s a real gift.
In exchange, I show you how funny your family is, how you love each other, and all the in-between moments you never get to see because you’re too busy being a cook and referee and playmate and chauffeur. Through the images, I show you how hard you work and how much your kids appreciate and adore you.
I’ve known this family for ages, but it was a true gift spending a morning with them. To the Davis clan: I thought you were awesome before our session, and now I love you guys so much more.
