I haven’t had homework in years, but this was the best kind of assignment. Hands down.
As a part of the documentary photography course I’m taking with the amazing Jessica Thomason, I did a documentary family photography session for my dear friend Nikki.
This family is so special to me. We met over three years ago when our oldest children bonded over breakfast at daycare. Even as infants, they acted like an old married couple — feeding each other Cheerios from adjacent highchairs. They are now the best of buds and we joke regularly about how we are destined to be in-laws in the (very, very) far future.
I spent a morning with this crew to capture a slice of their life right now. Nikki has this calm and loving presence with her girls and it was so fun to watch little Hattie practice standing. She is so close to walking that before long she’ll be running to catch up with her sister (who will no doubt have something to say about that!).
If you’re interested in learning more about documenting your everyday with a day in the life session, I’d love to hear from you!
