Can you drop kick a soccer ball with near 100% accuracy? Kayson can. And he’s only two and a half.
I had a blast spending the morning with this adorable family. Daneen has been a dear friend ever since we went through Montessori elementary teacher training together in 2010. Not only did we spend the morning at Kayson’s first soccer practice, but we spent time with Daneen’s sweet parents (in the house that both Daneen AND her father grew up in!).
If I could bottle up even a small fraction of Kayson’s energy, I swear I’d be raring to go for days! Not only can he drop kick a ball but he is FEARLESS on his kick bike. He had my heart racing a number of times as he took off for the steepest hills he could find at the fastest speeds he could manage. Thankfully Daneen has a calm presence equivalent to that of a zen master.
But this little guy isn’t all rough and tumble. There were so many sweet and gentle moments throughout the morning — his hand resting on his grandfather’s arm as he put Kayson’s bike together, the way Kayson would just lean on Daneen as if her proximity was comforting, and how he would rub her hair between his fingers when he was tired. These two have such a special connection and these small moments are why I love doing day in the life sessions.
