DAY IN THE LIFE | April 18, 2016

Let’s face it.  It’s no joke to parent two small children AND take photographs for an entire day.  In fact, many times throughout the day I wondered if I was crazy.  While I am totally in love with documentary photography, I’ve never attempted to do a “day in the life” for my own family.

I’ve got to admit — I didn’t think I’d make it.  I was sure I was shooting total garbage and wanted to throw in the towel at 4pm.  In fact, I almost lost it when we sat down for dinner and Brian said, “Sylvie, now really isn’t the time to take pictures.”  (To be fair, R was losing his ever-loving three-year-old mind).

But when I finally got everything loaded and culled, it was pretty cool to see the result.  Not all the photographs are technically perfect, BUT it captures the essence of our day and tells our story.  It captures little moments that I know will be different tomorrow.  I know I’ll treasure this series forever.

And I’ll definitely be attempting this again.  Call me crazy.

That's beautiful Sylvie! I wish I had something like that from when my boys were tiny! I love that you are in there, especially the one with the nursing baby and the one helping Ro with Nick on your hip, such classic mom moments!

of course we love the subjects ;-) . . . we love the vantage points you take as a photographer; and we so enjoy the reminders of our own little boys growing up in a small house . . . where much joy was found in the simple things . . .
