When my second son was born, I was shocked by how busy life felt with two little people to care for. Perhaps I shouldn’t have been. But I still remember the nervous pit in my stomach the first time Brian returned to work and I was responsible for both kiddos for the entire day. And while we survived that first day and got into the swing of things pretty quickly, I swear my boys always know when I’m outnumbered. Underwear comes off during meals. Naked butts run circles around the house to the loud shrieks of nonsense words. The baby climbs onto a crate in order to climb ONTO THE COUCH to get the truck his brother confiscated from him. You know. The usual stuff.
But, man. Jaci has three little people. THREE. Twins that love to egg each other on (in the most adorable kind of way) and a little guy who is just smothered (often literally) by the love of his sisters. The twins build forts out of couch cushions, climb into the crib when the baby is getting a diaper change, and dump flour all over the kitchen floor (they are “baking,” after all) when Jaci runs upstairs to put the baby down for a nap. (I only heard about that last episode, but man I wish I had been there!).
And in the midst of all this, Jaci is utterly unflappable. She handles her little people with such grace and joy that it makes me want to go home and hug my own kiddos just a little bit tighter.
It also makes me think that maybe a third child wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world. In fact, it might be pretty darn great.
I’d love to hear from you if you’re interested in learning more about a day in the life session for your family!
