BEGINNER PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP
Learn how to take control of your camera and document your story with purpose.
Have you ever looked at the LCD screen of your expensive, new camera and thought, “I wish I knew how to use this thing better?”
Do you want to learn how to take better pictures of your children to remember the milestones, the events, and even the day to day?
You are not alone!
Join me for a 4-week beginner photography class designed to help new photographers take control of their camera and capture their family’s story. This class will help you transition from shooting in the camera’s auto mode to shooting in semi-automatic modes (aperture priority mode and shutter priority mode). You will learn basic concepts of composition and how to use natural light to your advantage. Topics such as the exposure triangle, storytelling, and shooting with purpose will also be covered.
This class is a great fit for anyone who just got a new camera, parents who want to learn to capture their family’s story, or anyone getting started in photography.
This will be a supportive and interactive class environment. Students will be encouraged to practice an assignment each week and then bring their work to share with the group. Students will be also invited to join a private online group for continued discussion, sharing, and questions between classes. This class will be limited to eight participants to ensure that everyone gets individualized attention and support.
This class will run Thursday evenings (7:00-8:30pm) from February 9th to March 2nd, 2017 at Pacifier in Highland Park (714 Cleveland Ave S, St Paul MN 55116). Come prepared with your camera and manual. The cost of the course is $125.
Are you ready to take your camera off auto and capture the moments that matter?
***Please note that this is nonrefundable. However, you can transfer it to another person should you find yourself unable to attend the workshop.

Sylvie Grahan is a documentary family photographer located in the Twin Cities, Minnesota. Her passion is documenting real life and the little things — because she believes that one day they will be the most important things. She lives with her family in Minneapolis: a husband who becomes twitchy without a daily run, a three year old with an affinity for sleeping on hardwood floors, a 15 month old with a knack for scaling furniture, and two lab mixes who shed so much that she could have a successful side-business if sweeping were profitable (or if her crawling son didn’t get to the hair first).
